Research and development contracts (R&D contracts)

Publicly funded research cooperations are not only often the starting point for successful further advancement of research and development, but also represent an important source of funding for universities, public and private research institutions and research-based companies. The basis for cooperation is provided by cooperation agreements, which regulate the partners’ contributions, the handling of trade secrets, contributed IP (background) and the research results (foreground) of the cooperation partners.

Nowadays, part of the range of duties of universities, public and private research institutions are also economic activities such as the provision of research services in the field of contract research.

We advise national, international or EU projects as well as industrial projects: in particular in the negotiations of confidentiality, publication and IP clauses, taking into account aspects of cartel and state aid law as well as the relevant funding and internal university law.
